Some of the typical responsibilities of a project manager are to define project goals, develop a project plan, manage resources and risks, monitor progress, communicate with stakeholders, and ensure quality.

The Project Manager Professional Certificate provides comprehensive instruction on being a project manager in today’s world. If you are interested in becoming a project manager in any industry, this program can provide a solid foundation.

The IT Project Manager Professional Certificate includes the same project management courses as the Project Manager Professional Certificate. However, it also includes several courses pertaining to the IT industry with a stronger emphasis on technology projects.

The Professional Certificate requires completion of 7 courses. Each course typically contains 3-6 modules with an average effort of 2 to 4 hours per module. If learning part-time (e.g. 1 module per week), it would take 5 to 11 months to complete the entire certificate. If learning full-time (e.g. 1 module per day) the certificate can be completed in 2 to 3 months.

If you have already completed some of the courses in this Professional Certificate, either individually or as part of another Specialization, they will be marked as "Complete". You do not have to take those courses again, and will be able to finish the Professional Certificate more quickly. You will only need to complete the courses that you have not yet completed.

You can find more information about how to register for the exam on the Project Management Institute (PMI) website. Please note that while this program on Coursera can help prepare you with the skills necessary to take the certification exam, the certification and certification fee isn't included in the program's cost. Yes. The IBM Project Manager Professional Certificate secured a credit recommendation from the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) from the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) – industry standards for translating workplace learning into college credit. This aims to help open up additional pathways to learners who are interested in higher education and prepare them for entry-level jobs.

To share proof of completion with schools, certificate graduates will receive an email prompting them to claim their Credly badge, which contains the ACE®️ credit or ECTS recommendation. Once claimed, you will receive a competency-based transcript that signifies the credit recommendation, which can be shared directly with a school from the Credly platform. Please note that the decision to accept specific credit recommendations is up to each institution and is not guaranteed.
